Please take a moment to step back into the historical past of Los Fuertes De Loreto, with a little imagination and guidance you will be able to admire the monuments and experience the events that played a large role in the battle of 1862 between France and Mexico.

In the forts of Loreto Guadalupe in Puebla, a histrorical event rook place. A small Mexican army defeated the French, giving Mexicans a reason to celebrate for years, now known as Cinco de Mayo. This event occurred on May 5, 1862, when the French invading army was shot down by Mexican battalion in a two-to-one ratio. With this victory,  Mexico demonstrated to the world that the Latin American Nations were autonomous and capable of resisting the imperialist strikes that sought to conquer the world. Although the Mexican army was eventually defeated, the battle of the Puebla is a symbol of unity and patriotism for Mexicans.

Loreto and Guadalupe played a strategic importance during the French intervention. The forts served as headquarters for operations of the army, located in the east and central points of the battles that were fought in Puebla. This placement along with skilled defenses is the reason it became know as the door of Mexico. When the French attacked a second time on May 17th 1863, the surrender of Puebla’ vas inevitable and the bombardment led to the forts ruins. Eventually with the aid of the United States, the French were pushed out and Mexico reclaimed their rights to their land.

In 1930 the forts and surrounding area were declared property of the nation. A war museum was constructed in Loreto. 1862 entre Francia y Mexico.

En los fuertes de Loreto Guadalupe, en Puebla, tuvo lugar un acontecimiento histórico.
Un pequeño ejercito mexicano derrotó los franceses, dando a los mexicanos una razon para celebrar durante años, ahora conocido como Cinco De Mayo. Este suceso ocurrio el 5 de mayo de 1862, cuando el ejército invasor frances fue derribado por un batallón mexicano en una relación de dos a uno. Con esta victoria, Mexico demostró al mundo que las
naciones latinoamericanas eran autonomas y capaces de resistir las huelgas imperialistas
que buscaban conquistár el mundo. Aunque el ejército mexicano fue finalmente derrotado
la batalla de Puebla es un símbolo lo de unidad y patriotismo para los mexicanos.

Loreto y Guadalupe jugaron una importancia estrategica durante la intervención francesa. Los fuertes sirvieron coma cuartel general para las operaciones del ejército, situadas en el este y puntos centrales de las batallas que se libraron en Puebla. Esta colocación junto con defensas hábil es la razon por la que se conoció como la puerta de Mexico. Cuando los franceses atacaron por segunda vez el 17 de mayo de 1863, la rendicio de Puebla fue inevitable y el bombardearon llevo a las ruinas de los fuertes. Finalmente, con la ayuda de los Estados Unidos, los franceses fueron expulsados y Mexico recuperó sus derechos sobre sus tierras.

En 1930 las fuertes y los alrededores fueron declarados propiedad de la nacion.
